ELEMENTS OF PLASTIC ENCLOSURE

ELEMENTS OF PLASTIC ENCLOSURE

Plastic enclosures protect and give an extra covering to sensitive electronic and electrical components. Although something common, many are unaware of the basic elements of the plastic enclosure, which is why we have brought you this comprehensive guide focusing on plastic enclosures in detail. So, let’s dive into this without wasting any more time.

E-tan provide three types of the plastic enclosures:
  • ABS (ACRYLONITRILE BUTADIENE STYRENE) - It is a common plastic material of enclosures and for general-purpose. ABS enclosures can be install indoors and outdoors where ambient temperature below 60℃. Save time and money with e-tan’s ABS enclosures.

Electronic Plastic & Steel Enclosures

  • PC+ABS BLEND (POLYCARBONATE + ACRYLONITRILE BUTADIENE STYRENE)- Excellent resistance to flame (UL94 5VB), and ability to survive corrosive conditions are suitable for electronic and electrical applications.
  • PC (POLYCARBONATE) - It is ideal for indoor and outdoor use and is very popular because of its toughness, thermal stability, and weatherproof. E-tan’s PC enclosures are certified weatherproof by testing with IEC 62208 (1000 hours of UV test) and IEC 60068-2-52 (1344 hours of salt spray test). PC weatherproof enclosures are made from high-quality, durable materials that are UV-stable, corrosion resistant, and UL 94 V-0 flame rating.

Weatherproof Enclosure Box

IP rating

This rating defines the degree of resistance the enclosure provides against foreign substances. Numbers and letters denote it. A rating of 6 or above means the enclosure is dust-proof; otherwise, it‘s dust resistant. The second digit demonstrates the water resistance level.

UL94 Rating

UL rating denotes the resistance of the enclosure against fire. This rating is given by Underwriter Laboratories, an American consulting company that performs safety analyses for technological gadgets.

ROHS mark

ROHS is a compliance requirement that a company using materials that may be susceptible to toxic materials needs to meet. A ROHS on the plastic enclosure indicates that the product is toxic-free.
