Durability: UV Resistant Plastic
e-tan's outdoor enclosures are made of UV resistant polycarbonate(PC). After 1000 hours of weathering tests(ISO 4892-2), color-difference of opaque and transparent PC are⊿E9.07 and⊿E5.80 respectively.

Flammability is an important factor as well. Our PC material is UL94-V0 which means the burning stops within 10 seconds on a vertical specimen; drips of particles allowed as long as they are not inflamed. Here is the classifications table:

Class Orientation of Test Sample Conditions
Definition Time of Burn Allowed Particle Drop Allowed Develop a Hole
Flaming Non-Flaming
UL94 HB Horizontal Slow Burning Burning rate < 76 mm/min for thickness < 3 mm and burning stops before 100 mm
UL94 V2 Vertical Burning Stop 30 s Yes Yes -
UL94 V1 Vertical Burning Stop 30 s No Yes -
UL94 V0 Vertical Burning Stop 10 s No Yes -
UL94 5VB Vertical Burning Stop 60 s No No Yes
UL94 5VA Vertical Burning Stop 60 s No No No

Anti-Corrosion
To improve durability of entire enclosures, metallic parts are made of SUS304. But it is not enough for coastal or marine environments. The whole enclosures are continuously exposed to moisture, salt spray and seawater, causing surface breakdown, cracking, and flaking of the metal.
The metallic parts of enclosures are treated with protective coatings to protect from salt corrosion in the harshest environments. The metal parts with or without coatings are available. The PC(polycarbonate)enclosures with treatment metal parts passed the 1344 hours salt spray test(IEC 60068-2-52)without any rust.

These plastic enclosures are durable and sturdy, providing excellent protection for components. e-tan’s PC(polycarbonate)enclosures comply with IP68, being an ideal solution for outdoor applications
